Bathroom Renovation: Transforming Small Spaces with Style

Bathroom Renovation: Transforming Small Spaces with Style

After settling into our new home, the first major project on our list is renovating the bathroom.

Drawing inspiration from modern farmhouse styles, we envision a mix of wood and cream-toned tiles. The vanity will be the focal point, offering a clean and relaxed look. (For more inspiration, visit my Pinterest Bathroom board)

Current Bathroom Challenges

Our current bathroom is very small, with outdated fixtures and blue mosaics covering almost every surface. We plan to expand the space by removing a linen closet and reconfiguring the layout for better functionality.
Now, take a deep breath and let me introduce to you my new (and still in progress) bathroom. The original space was almost 5’x7′, located between two bedroom entrance doors and a linen closet. We removed the closet to create more space and expanded the area, as shown in the floor plans. My design proposal is to position the shower in front of the window, completely changing the previous layout, and to place the toilet in the right side corner for added privacy. Now, we have room for a double vanity, which will hopefully have a farmhouse style look.
I’ve chosen white Carrara Marble for the shower walls to keep the space looking light. For the floors, I’m using wood-like tiles in sand tones to add a bit of warmth. The rest of the materials will aim to create a sense of illumination and radiance throughout. I have created a perspective using SketchUp to give you a better understanding of my design for this space.

Design Proposal

  • Shower: Positioned in front of the window for natural light.
  • Toilet: Placed in a corner for added privacy.
  • Vanity: A farmhouse-style double vanity.

Materials and Finishes

  • Tiles: White Carrara marble for the shower walls and floor.
  • Floors: Wood-like tiles in sand tones for warmth.
  • Fixtures: Elegant and simple fixtures to maintain a light and airy feel.
As always, I love reading your feedback and ideas. Have you done a bathroom renovation? What is the worst I can expect? Share your experiences with me!

You will never go wrong in picking white shades and marble. They always compliment each other. Cannot wait to see the photos of your new bathroom.
