This week’s One Room Challenge Fall/Winter 2021, has been all about placing orders, finalizing details about the design and getting all the trades ready. Samples of wallpaper, fabric and paint have been ordered and received. We always make sure that these elements have the texture and/or color that we want for the space. Keep in mind that not all computer monitors are created equal, and that what you might think is gray, might end up being a light blue. Samples are also important when it comes to the size of its pattern. We want to make sure that what we’ve chosen goes on par with the rest of the space.

Some cool features
There are so many cool things I’ll be incorporating in this space. And as you might already know from my previous post, I’m a big (HUGE) fan of textures. Because of this, there will be a wood slat accent wall (wood provided by the amazing NOVO Building Products).
Another great feature that this room will have is a padded custom headboard. The fabric will be a show stopper, I promise! Fabricut has been very generous in providing a “sleek croc” style fabric with a glistering platinum finish. The wallpaper (from S. Harris, part of Fabricut‘s stellar family), also with a delicate metallic finish and a luxurious tactile texture.
These walls do talk
Well, only in a figurative way, but before we start installing the wallpaper, we need to take care of them. Keep in mind that these walls are from our 1938 house in Miami. In order to prepare these walls, they were first smoothed to avoid any textures from peeking though the wallpaper. This also avoids the risk of moisture getting trapped in any small gap in the walls, avoiding mold from forming. After the walls were all smoothed, they were then cleaned and primed. Just take a look at that before (left) and after (right)i to see the difference.
There are so many things in my to-do list, but for now I’ll leave you to this amazing and inspiring list of participants of the One Room Challenge Fall/Winter 2021:
