A week in review
Let me let you into a little secret; we’ve never had doors in our master bedroom’s closet! 🙈 There, I said it! Ever since we bought this house we’ve had an “open concept”/ philosophy about this area. But in reality, who wants to see all the clothing and shoes in display day in and out? So, this room’s makeover really involved a set of doors from day 1. Now the room feels so much organized and put together.
After this installation (which proved to be very challenging for the installers), we painted the doors in Kelly Moore‘s Epic Paint in a satin finish. We used the color KM4572 Tungsten which gives a very subtle look to the space and matches beautifully with the ceiling and crown moulding.
We later on added two sets of handles to the doors from Emtek. The ones we used are a beautiful mix of brass and black and are the 84058 (12” cabinet pull), with a Knurled texture in Flat Black (US19) for the bar pull, and with Satin Brass (US4) for the stem. I paired these with the “Modern Blackplate for Pull” (86927) in Satin Brass (US4).
This week we also received a beautiful ottoman from the new West Elm + Minted collaboration. I just love how we can now admire art in a 3d form. Besides enjoying it through a framed wall art, we can now add an artistic touch to an ottoman (like the one above) a headboard, room divider, chairs… the possibilities are endless. These made to order exclusive furniture pieces and art were designed by some incredible creatives from the Minted community of independent artists. The pattern I’m using in this ottoman is called “Gravel” and the “Patchwork Plaid” was designed By Sara Hicks Malon.
About those hiccups
There were many hiccups during this past week. From a last minute change of upholstered company, to a delay in wallpaper installation. So trying to deal with those little things has been part of this exciting journey.
Also, I chose a different fabric for the headboard from S. Harris (part of Fabricut‘s fine textile brands) which I’m sure you saw over at my IG stories this week. The winner was the Maji in Smoke (but it also comes in other colors) because of its richness in texture but also because of its amazing abstract pattern (see the opening image).
What’s next
We are still waiting on the roman shades installation and hopefully this will be done this week. Also, we will be installing the hallway flush mount this week and it’s going to be a stunner! So, you won’t want to miss this. To keep up with all these updates and more, let’s connect through my social media channels Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
